can be seen plummeting down the sides of the many mountains throughout the Majestic
Appalachian. Many of these awesome rapids slows to a trickle when winter turns mountain
falls into a winter wonderland.
NC RAINBOW FALLS
One of the most majestic waterfalls at anytime of year
is Rainbow Falls. Its constant mist in warm weather has rainbows shooting from the sun,
giving the waterfall its name. During winter, the spray conceals everything it touches,
turning the trail icy and perilous. Rainbow Falls, also known as High Falls, is on the
Horsepasture River and is one of more than 200 waterfalls in Transylvania County,
NC.
NC BRIDAL VEIL FALLS
Bridal Veil Falls is a spectabular site that a visitor
should not overlook! At the junction of Hwy 64 and Hwy 215 in Rosman, N.C. go west on
64, and soon you'll come to Toxaway Falls. Pass through Cashiers, N.C. and soon you'll
come to the beautiful 120-foot Bridal Veil Falls.

A very majestic cascade falls is the 411-foot Whitewater
Falls one the highest in the eastern United States. No other in the east has the
combination of water volume, height and visibility. Whitewater Falls in the Nantahala
Forest has been designated a North Carolina Natural Heritage Area.
LINVILLE FALLS IN
SUMMER
Linville Falls, one of the best-known waterfalls in the
Appalachian Mountains, marks the beginning of the Linville Gorge, often called the
Grand Canyon of the East. Its walls rise up nearly 2,000 feet in places. You can reach
Linville Falls via the Blue Ridge Parkway.
