Antiques of The Majestic Appalachians

Blue Ridge Parkway

A Family Vacation Guide To The Appalachian Mountains

Who might this dashing, dignified looking gent be?  Today he would be someone's grandfather, even their great-grandfather!   Perhaps one of the Founding Father's of a promintent family of Western North Carolina where this beautiful portrait was found: in an old box of 'treasures!'

This Beautiful Original Framed Charcoal On Cardboard Vintage, Antique Portrait is 14" by 19" And including Its Frame It Meausres: 15-1/2" x 30-1/2" x 5/8"

My research reveals this portrait was most likely made in the late 1800's, as, for one reason, charcoal portraits at that time were made not on paper and 'then' supported by a cardboard at the back when framed. Rather, the paintings were made directly on the cardboard itself and then framed, held in with tack nails.

This portrait would fit beautifully in any Victorian theme such as an antique bed and breakfast, etc.

All our items come from a 'smoke free' environment. The proceeds of this sale is being donated to our favorite charity:
