Soon after the Majestic Appalachian Mountains have lost their dazzling yellow glow of autumn and head into winter, tourists begin their mass exodus, leaving the countryside nearly deserted.
Mayflies and caddisflies continue
When flies lay their eggs in lakes or streams the eggs
hatch into nymphs. As the nymphs make their way to the
surface the fish eat them. If the nymphs reach the
surface without being eaten they will morph into flies. This
cycle continues with the nymph.
With a fly rod the fisherman attempts to hook the fish and stop it from spitting out the fly, keeping it on the hook until the fish gets tired enough so that it can be netted.
