Hydrogen storage on platinum decorated graphene: A first-principles study

Abstract: Adsorption of gaseous/molecular hydrogen on platinum (Pt) decorated and pristine graphene have been studied systematically by using density functional theory (DFT) level of calculations implemented by Quantum ESPRESSO codes. The Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) type generalized gradient approximation (GGA) exchange-correlation functional and London dispersion forces have been incorporated in the DFT-D2 level of algorithm for short and long range electron-electron interactions, respectively. With reference to the binding energy of Pt on different symmetry sites of graphene supercells, the bridge (B) site has been predicted as the best adsorption site. In case of 3×3 supercell of graphene (used for detail calculations), the binding energy has been estimated as 2.02 eV. The band structure and density of states calculations of Pt adatom graphene predict changes in electronic/magnetic properties caused by the atom (Pt). The adatom (Pt) also enhances the binding energy per hydrogen molecule in Pt-graphene comparing to that in pristine graphene and records the values within the range of 1.84 eV to 0.13 eV for one to eight molecules, respectively.
A Diagnosis Missed for Several Years- Wegener’s Granulomatosis

Abstract: Wegener’s granulomatosis is a form of systemic vasculitis of small to medium sized vessels and affects upper respiratory tract, lungs and kidneys along with various organs. It causes necrotizing granulomatous inflammation of the affected parts and presents with positive antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies in more severe forms. Being a systemic disease with the potential to affect any organ-systems with a wide range of clinical presentations, it is associated with a risk of delay in diagnosis with resultant setback in institution of appropriate treatment. Confusion may arise due to an extent of histological similarity between Wegener’s granulomatosis and the more prevalent tuberculosis, both causing granulomatous inflammation of the affected parts. Here, we present two cases of this rare disorder where the diagnosis was missed for several years in the beginning causing a delay in institution of specific therapy which led to the development of complications. Variation on agro-morphological traits in Nepalese foxtail millet (Setaria italica (L) P Beauv)

Abstract: Foxtail millet ( Setaria italica (L) P Beauv) falls on the category of underutilized crops in Nepal and mainly cultivated in Karnali region of the country. It is hardy crop and considered as one of the potential crops for future food security with respect to climate change. Five accessions of Nepalese foxtail millet were purposefully selected for evaluation of the agro-morphological characteristics. Foxtail landraces from Dolpa, Mugu, Bajura, Bajhang and Lamjung districts of Nepal were evaluated at Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal during 2010. The plot size was 1m 2 and there were five samples. Days to heading and days to maturity varied from 33-56 and 59 to 87 days after germination respectively. Similarly, flag leaf length/breadth ratio, flag leaf sheath length, ligule length, peduncle length, peduncle exertion and plant height varied from 3.84-10.90, 5.47-9.84 cm, 0.1-0.2 mm, 10-22.57 cm, 2.7-13.58 cm and 41.67-120 cm, respectively. Fruit and apiculus color varied from straw to black. All accessions were actively growing with very slight lodging. Similarly, the thousand grain weight varies from 1.064 g to 2.172 g. This variation is useful in foxtail millet breeding program. Similarly, the significant correlation between thousand kernel weight and total basal tiller (r=-0.975) showed that foxtail millet lines with low tillering ability is better for yield enhancement. Abstract: This paper demonstrates the concept of using Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) to improve Long Term Evolution (LTE) system by introducing the LTE Advance (LTE-A). The type of HetNets that has been chosen for this study is Macro with Pico cells. Comparing the system performance with and without Pico cells has clearly illustrated using three well-known scheduling algorithms (Proportional Fair PF, Maximum Largest Weighted Delay First MLWDF and Exponential/Proportional Fair EXP/PF). The system is judged based on throughput, Packet Loss Ratio PLR, delay and fairness.A simulation platform called LTE-Sim has been used to collect the data and produce the paper outcomes and graphs. The results prove that adding Pico cells enhances the overall system performance. From the simulation outcomes, the overall system performance is as follows: throughput is duplicated or tripled based on the number of users, the PLR is almost quartered, the delay is nearly reduced ten times (PF case) and changed to be a half (MLWDF/EXP cases), and the fairness stays closer to value of 1. It is considered an efficient and cost effective way to increase the throughput, coverage and reduce the latency.

Abstract: Multiferroic BiFe1-xCrxO3 (x = 0.2 and 0.4) ceramics were synthesized in a single phase. The effects of Cr3+ substitution on the crystal structure, dielectric permittivity and leakage current were investigated. Preliminary X-ray structural studies revealed that the samples had a rhombohedral perovskite crystal structure. The dielectric constant ε' significantly increased while the dielectric loss tanδ was substantially decreased with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The temperature effect on the dielectric properties exhibited an anomaly corresponding to magneto-electric coupling in the samples and was shifted to lower temperatures with the increase in Cr3+ substitution. The leakage current density also reduced in magnitude with the increase in the Cr3+ substitution.

Abstract: We investigate the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) model and G-CSF (granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) treatment of CN (Cyclical Neutropenia). We collect grey collies and normal dog’s data from CN and analyze the G-CSF treatment. The model develops the dynamics of circulating blood cells before and after the G-CSF treatment. This is quite natural and useful for the collection of laboratory data for investigation. The proposed interventions are practical. This reduces the quantity of G-CSF required for potential maintenance. This model gives us good result in treatment. The changes would be practical and reduce the risk side as well as the cost of treatment in G-CSF.

Abstract: Restructured electric market environment allows the power wheeling transactions between the power producers and customers to meet the growing load demand. This paper describes the methodology for the identification of critical transmission line by computing the real power and reactive power performance indices.
