Geofísica internacional , 2008,
Abstract: for many years relations between seismic activity and associated ionospheric changes have been studied. particularly, the possibility to identify ionospheric precursors of large earthquakes has been regarded as a specific goal for eventual obvious very valuable practical use. this paper first analyses fof2 observations over concepción (36.8°s; 73.0°w) prior to the two very large chile earthquakes of 21 and 22 may 1960, using the same procedure of chuo et al. (2002) for the september 1999 taiwan earthquake. then it reports results from processing fof2 values in two different ways, namely, using direct estimations of reference geomagnetic quiet-day diurnal variation of fof2 and using an empirical model that filters known dependencies of fof2 on solar and geomagnetic activities for concepción (arriagada and foppiano, 1999). it is shown that different analyses of observed fof2 values lead to different conclusions regarding possible ionospheric precursors.
Analytical Characteristics of Electrochemical Biosensors

Abstract: the goal of this work is the evaluation of the analytical characteristics of the determinations performed using glucose oxidase and acetylcholinesterase based electrochemical sensors, developed applying original or optimized conventional methods of enzyme immobilization. it was found that the sensitivity of glucose determination, for example, varies from 0.048 to 3.36 ma l mol-1 cm-2 and the response time of the glucose oxidase based sensors - from 5 to 30s, according to the method of the bioreceptor immobilization. the sensitivity of the analysis is affected from the activity of the immobilized biocomponent, from the composition of the solution (concentration of the substrate, of the mediator and of the inhibitor), and from the experimental conditions (ph, temperature, agitation), as well as from the kinetic parameters of the studied process. it was found that the immobilized glucose oxidase conserves its substrate specificity in the presence of a number of glucides (galactose, maltose, fructose, and saccharose) in 100 fold higher concentrations. the selectivity of glucose analysis is ensured applying a suitable potential. interferences free glucose amperometric determination was performed at 0.00 v/sce, in the presence of ascorbates and urates. the electrochemical quantification of enzyme inhibitors allows reaching particularly low limits of detection (10-9-10-14 mol l-1).

Abstract: abstract yellow serradella (ornithopus compressus l.) and pink serradella (ornithopus sativus brot.) are two new annual forage legume species for infertile, acidic, and light texture soils, in dryland areas of the mediterranean zone of chile. seven cultivars of yellow serradella and one cultivar of pink serradella, developed by the center for legumes in mediterranean agriculture (clima), australia, were characterized. o. compressus presented a high to medium hardseededness (53 to 100% at the beginning of the second growth season), while o. sativus presented a very low hardseededness (4%). a variable range of precocity was detected (108 to 143 days to flowering). the growth habit is semi-erect to erect, flowers are yellow in o. compressus and pink in o. sativus. the dry matter and seed production is comparable, and in some years superior, to that of species of traditional use in these areas, like subterranean clover (trifolium subterraneum l.) and hualputra (medicago polymorpha l.), standing out serradellas especially for their high production in infertile soils of the interior dry lands of cauquenes, in the third year of evaluation (2200 to 4200 kg dm ha-1, 650 to 1440 kg seeds ha-1) the available phenological and productive data allow to think that the development of pastures based on serradellas, could mean an important contribution to the improvement of the pastoral production of extensive marginal areas of the non-irrigated mediterranean land of chile.

This presentation makes reference to the Acha mortuary pattern of the Early Archaic, preceding the Chinchorro mortuary pattern. It makes mention of the cultural references that contextualize it as a component of a semi-sedentary, hunter-gatherer society with an economy based on the complementary exploitation of coastal and valley resources
Non-uniform Braneworld Stars: an Exact Solution
J Ovalle
Physics , 2008, DOI: 10.1142/S0218271809014790
Abstract: The first exact interior solution to Einstein's field equations for a static and non-uniform braneworld star with local and non-local bulk terms is presented. It is shown that the bulk Weyl scalar ${\cal U}(r)$ is always negative inside the stellar distribution, in consequence it reduces both the effective density and the effective pressure. It is found that the anisotropy generated by bulk gravity effect has an acceptable physical behaviour inside the distribution. Using a Reissner-N\"{o}rdstrom-like exterior solution, the effects of bulk gravity on pressure and density are found through matching conditions.
The Schwarzschild's Braneworld Solution
J. Ovalle
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1142/S0217732310034420
Abstract: In the context of the Randall-Sundrum braneworld, the minimal geometric deformation approach, which has been successfully used to generate exact interior solutions to Einstein's field equations for static braneworld stars with local and non-local bulk terms, is used to obtain the braneworld version of the Schwarzschild's interior solution. Using this new solution, the behaviour of the Weyl functions is elucidated in terms of the compactness for different stellar distributions.
